Delhi HC to Hear Grievances Regarding CLAT 2025

The Delhi High Court is set to hear a series of petitions today that question the integrity and accuracy of the CLAT 2025 results. With thousands of law aspirants awaiting clarity on their future, this hearing marks a significant turning point in what has been a controversial admissions process since the CLAT 2025 was conducted last year on 1st December, 2024.
The legal battle over the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 results began when multiple candidates raised concerns about alleged inconsistencies in the scorecards. These discrepancies led to a series of legal challenges, eventually prompting the Supreme Court to transfer the matter to the Delhi High Court.
The Apex Court had earlier fixed March 3 as the date for deciding whether the results should be revised but later postponed the hearing to April 7. The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU), which is responsible for organizing the CLAT, has yet to release the first round of merit-based admissions.
The delay is being attributed directly to the ongoing legal proceedings. The Consortium has maintained a cautious stance, choosing to wait for the High Court’s verdict before taking any further steps on the admission process.

Origin of Legal Issues with CLAT 2025 Results

The Delhi High Court had mandated a revision of the CLAT 2025 undergraduate results following the identification of errors in two specific questions. This decision arose from a petition by Aditya Singh, a 17-year-old candidate, who challenged the final answer key’s accuracy and sought a temporary halt to the counseling process.
Singh contended that his objections to certain answers were overlooked, adversely affecting his admission prospects. Similarly, multiple candidates raised questions about alleged discrepancies and inaccuracies in the published answer key and scorecards. This has resulted in a series of 15 cases all of which have been transferred to the Delhi High Court.

How Will Today’s Hearing Impact the Students?

The court’s ruling will determine whether the current results will remain the same or will require adjustments.
If the court mandates corrections to the CLAT 2025 results due to identified discrepancies, candidates’ rankings may change. This could alter admission prospects, especially for those near previous cut-off marks.
The ongoing legal proceedings have already delayed the counseling process. Depending on today’s decision, further postponements are possible, affecting the timeline for admissions into National Law Universities.
