Renowned Corporate Lawyer and Founder of Luthra and Luthra, Rajiv Luthra passes away at 67

Rajiv Luthra, a veteran corporate lawyer and the Founder of Luthra and Luthra firm passed away aged 67 on the 10th of May, 2023. He was known as a prominent member of the legal fraternity and a kind-hearted mentor and leader to many.

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India is a leading full-service law firm, with a team of over 300+ members with offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Initially, A first-generation lawyer, Mr. Luthra, set out to be a chartered accountant but then he pursued law at the University of Delhi and later studied the various emerging areas of law at Harvard Law School. He set up the firm in 1990 after completing his graduation and practicing for a brief period. 
Mr. Luthra was also the Chairman of The Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. Ltd. (India), a Member of the American Bar Association, a Member of the International Bar Association, a Member of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, a Member-National Executive Committee at the Confederation of Indian Industry, Member of Union Internationale des Avocats, Member of The Supreme Court Bar Association, Delhi High Court Bar Association and Member-Internal Quality Assurance Cell at NALSAR University of Law and on the board of 12 other companies.
The Government of India had appointed Mr. Luthra to the Advisory Board of the Competition Commission of India to assist in framing the general rules and regulations under the Competition Act, 2002. The Competition Commission of India had also appointed him to the Competition Advocacy Steering Committee.
His career trajectory spans decades and is a testimony to his legal brilliance in diverse areas such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, intellectual property, and dispute resolution. 
The sudden demise of Rajiv Luthra has left the entire legal fraternity in shock especially those he helped through his legal, entrepreneurial work. His legacy will live on through the many initiatives and institutions that he helped establish, and the countless lives that he touched through his work.
