1. Past years’ papers: The easiest way to gauge your level of preparedness and areas that you might be weak in is to look at past years’ papers. This will help you understand the type of questions that are asked in SLAT, whether there are any repeats or a topic frequently asked, etc.
2. Solve Mocks: Solve as many mocks as you can. Mocks not only give you an idea of the type of questions that can be asked, but also help you practise solving more questions in a more limited amount of time. This can give you a significant edge over other candidates.
3. Understand the syllabus really well: Consult official and online resources, and make a list of topics which form a part of the syllabus. Use past years’ papers and mocks to add on to this. For every broad topic, figure out what else can come within it. Have a roadmap of the syllabus ready. This could also help you in revision when the exam date comes nearer.
4. Clear your concepts: The best and sometimes the worst thing about legal reasoning is that scoring good is highly contingent upon you understanding the fundamentals well. For every topic, read through the law, try to understand the basics. Only then should you attempt questions.
5. Focus on the little details!: SLAT has negative marking and therefore, it is imperative for you to look at each detail of the given principle or question before selecting the correct option.
