If you’ve gone through the question papers of CLAT and AILET 2023, you must have noticed the high percentage of questions asked from Vocabulary, which was a distinct change from the expected pattern.

1. Aberration

Meaning: A departure from what is normal
Synonyms: anomaly, deviation, divergence, variation, digression
Antonyms: conformity, normality, regularity

2. Accede

Meaning: Agree to demand or request
Synonyms: admit, allow, acquiesce
Antonyms: refuse, deny, decline, disagree

3. Cathartic

Meaning: getting relief through open expression of strong emotions
Synonyms: purging, cleansing, releasing, relieving, ridding
Antonyms: repressive, unaffective

4. Cavalier

Meaning: Lack of concern
Synonyms: indifferent, dismissive, insouciant
Antonyms: thoughtful, emotional

5. Furtive

Meaning: trying to avoid attention or notice
Synonyms: secretive, sly, sneaky, covert
Antonyms: open, forthright, truthful

6. Gargantuan

Meaning: enormous
Synonyms: massive, huge, colossal, giant
Antonyms: tiny, miniscule

7. Histrionic

Meaning: theatrical or dramatic
Synonyms: affected, exaggerated, showy, stagy
Antonyms: unaffected, undramatic

8. Impasse

Meaning: A situation where no progress is possible
Synonyms: deadlock, stalemate, standstill
Antonyms: breakthrough

9. Knavery

Meaning: Dishonest or unfair behavior
Synonyms: trickery, unprincipled, roguish, mischievous
Antonyms: sincerity, honesty

10. Lesion

Meaning: Region in an organ or tissue that is injured
Synonyms: Bruise, abrasion, contusion
