Anna has always had the determination to succeed. From defeating all the other students and scoring the highest marks to win the Researcher’s Test at the Moot Court Competition conducted by her college in the first year to winning a Gold medal in her L.L.M., Anna has continued collecting more accolades and setting her sights on higher aims! Today, Anna shares her #CLATStory which is all about her resilience and hard work!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Anna Anu Priya. I finished my post-graduation in law from NLSIU last year. Currently, I am working in a legal tech company, while researching on topics of law on the side.

How did you start your CLAT journey?

I didn’t really prepare for CLAT UG, because I got into the law field by chance. But once I saw the appeal of the discipline, I wanted to study further and qualified CLAT PG with AIR 27 in 2021.

How were your initial years in law school?

I took to it instantly! As a science student, who had not planned on being a lawyer, I was pleasantly surprised by how much it excited me to study about the nitty-gritties of law. It was sort of the beginning of a passion towards learning the law.

What motivated you to pursue law as a career?

Reading the Constitution, and the idealism in its words, made me realize the nobility of this profession. It was the nobility of the profession that drew me towards pursuing law as a career.

Tell us a bit about your experience while taking CLAT LLM. How was that experience different from the time you took CLAT UG?

CLAT LLM is much different than any other law exam in the country. It doesn’t require you to mug up, but tests you based on your understanding of the concepts of law taught in law schools. I believe that to be able to successfully qualify the CLAT PG, you have to be aware of what’s happening around you at all times and have an idea about the changing laws.

What were your top 3 sources of information for CLAT? Did you prepare for CLAT all by yourself?

I used websites like CLATalogue and Livelaw to aid my preparation. In addition to that, direct judgments from the Supreme Court helped me a lot. But mostly, I think you have to have a good understanding of law to be able to attempt the paper efficiently.

What would you say sets apart your #CLATStory from others?

I think what sets my #CLATStory apart is the fact that I did not specifically prepare for the CLAT examination. For about 95% of my preparation, I relied on my consistent studies in law school.

Any advice you’d like to pass on to law school aspirants and law students?

I think whatever your aim is, as a law student, you should begin working for it from the beginning of your first or second year- that way you will end up having an edge over your competitors.
