1. 25th National Conference on e-Governance
- The 25th National Conference on e-Governance is to be organized on November 26 and 27, 2022.
- To be inaugurated on Constitution Day
- It will be held in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.
- Jointly organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in and the J&K Government.
- Theme this year is “Bringing Citizens, Industry and Government Closer”.
2. India’s First Policy on Suicide Prevention
- National Suicide Prevention Strategy recently unveiled by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- Aims to reduce suicide mortality by 10 per cent by 2030.
- Also aims to set up effective surveillance mechanisms for suicides within the next 3 years, establish psychiatric outpatient departments that provide suicide prevention services through the District Mental Health Programme in all states.
- Integrate a mental well-being curriculum in all educational institutions and develop guidelines for responsible media reporting about suicides and restricting access to the means of suicides.
3. Government released the new Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022
- Central Government released the new Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022
- It is expected to be presented in 2023 at the Budget Session
- First draft of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018 was proposed by Justice Srikrishna Committee
- The Bill is being revised again and again to ensure fairness, to ensure it can still apply to future scenarios and create a balance between data privacy and reasonable exceptions
- This Bill gives maximum control to the data principal, introduces the concept of deemed consent
4. Approval of “Loss and Damage Fund” by United Nation’s COP27 Climate Summit
- The Loss and Damage Fund is to be created to compensate economically vulnerable countries for the damages caused by climate-linked disasters.
- Aims to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
- No consensus over what should constitute as “loss and damage” caused by climate change.
- A transition committee is to be set up which will determine as to who will manage the fund
- The Committee will also decide whether contributions should be provided by larger developing countries and decide the share of contribution
5. Kameng Hydropower Station dedicated to the nation by PM Modi
- Situated in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district
- 600 MW project was developed by the state-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO)
- Makes use of the flows from Bichom and Tenga rivers – the tributaries of River Kameng
- This will enable Arunachal Pradesh to become a power surplus state
- It will help in generating revenue, increasing job opportunities for educated youth and promote industrialization of the region
- It will be a step towards achievement of India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) pledged under the 2015 Paris Agreement
