LEGAL

  • The Union Cabinet approved the changes introduced to the Surrogacy (Regulation) bill, 2019.
  • The HRD Minister introduced the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2019 in Rajya Sabha. It was introduced in Lok Sabha in December 2019 and was passed.
  • Group of Ministers formed by the Union Government to fight against Covid-19 in India invoked the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
  • The Government invoked Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
  • The Cabinet approved 72 changes to the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman introduced a bill in Parliament to amend banking regulation law to regulate cooperative banks.
  • United Nation Human Rights Commission moved to Supreme Court on the matter of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
  • The commission has filed a case challenging CAA. India on the Move of UNHRC India believes that the CAA is an internal matter of the country.
  • The Lok Sabha passed the Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020. The bill aims to amend Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and also Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015.
  • The Supreme Court of India rejected the curative petitions filed over Nirbhaya case.
  • The President of India Ramnath Kovind nominated the former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi to Rajya Sabha.
  • Parliament passed the Direct Tax Vivad Se Viswas Bill, 2020.
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Amendment) bill, 2020 has been passed in the parliament.
  • First time in history, the Supreme Court removed the Manipur Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar Singh from the state cabinet. (Disqualification Petition)
  • The Chief Justice of India Bobde announced that total shutdown of Supreme Court and other courts are not possible. The SC, on the other hand, is to launch virtual courtrooms.
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman introduced the Finance Bill, 2020.
  • Convicts of the Nirbhaya Gang Rape were hanged to death in Tihar Jail.

  • HRD Minister launches SAKSHAM portal aiming at empowerment of women in campuses
  • Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela-2020 in New Delhi.
  • Cabinet approves scheme to make India electronic manufacturing hub.
  • Government of India nominates two sites to be included in the World Heritage Sites List
  • Microsoft India, NASSCOM Foundation launch initiative to empower people with disabilities
  • ITBP chief SS Deswal given additional charge of BSF DG

  • GST collection crosses Rs one lakh crore mark in February
  • FM Nirmala Sitharaman chairs 39th GST Council meeting.
  • The last date for filing income tax return for FY 2018-19 extended till June 30.
  • Coronavirus to impact India’s economic growth ‘severely’
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chairs 39th GST Council meeting.
  • World Bank announces 12 billion aid package to help countries combat coronavirus outbreak
