How to prepare for SLAT 2023 Logical Reasoning Section?

SLAT 2023 is scheduled to be held across two days- May 06, 2023, and May 16, 2023. It has 5 sections, each section having 12 questions each.

SLAT 2023 will be a 60 mark paper, with 60 minutes as the total amount of time provided. 

The sections are:

– Arguments and conclusions
– Sets and statements
– Puzzles
– Blood relation
– Series
– Syllogism
– Strengthening-Weakening arguments,
– Finding the conclusion

1. Go through previous years’ papers: The best way to understand the syllabus and the pattern and type of questions asked is through the previous years’ papers. Read through them, try to solve them atleast a few times, get a hang of the type of questions asked.

2. Check the syllabus: Go on the official website. Check the syllabus. Prepare a list of all topics you need to cover, with a separate list for topics you are not confident about. Practise them more.

3. Get your fundamentals clear: Logical Reasoning is a very scoring section, but only if your concepts are clear. Don’t solve questions without ensuring this. Get the basics cleared, solve examples and questions. Don’t fixate on getting to the correct answers, understand the logic behind it as well. Understand the process of thinking which will help you in solving logical reasoning questions.

4. Pay special attention to questions: Read questions carefully and slowly, while comprehending properly. Note where the term ‘except’ is used in a statement of- Each of the following teams are held liable for murder. ‘Except’ means that this person is a hidden enemy.

5. Understand the exam: Understand the kind of questions asked, read the rules, understand the negative marking rule. Keep time in mind: SLAT is a speed test. Each section has 12 questions, and a limited amount of time. Please practice reading fast, and comprehending fast.
