In Conversation with Shipra Singh from MERI Professional Law Institute, Haryana on Life at Law School
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Shipra Singh. I’m a 3rd year law student interested in doodling on ipad and enjoy drawing cute faces, animals, and tropical beach scenes. I have a YouTube channel and want to create content for it. As a law student, I’m passionate about participating in law-related competitions and moot court sessions. I also want to stay updated with the latest legal news and developments. I’m enthusiastic for both art and law.
How did you start your journey in the field of law?
Well, my journey in the field of law began when I was inspired by influential legal figures and personal experiences. I realized the importance of justice and fairness in society, and I wanted to make a positive impact. So, I decided to pursue a career in law and enrolled in law school. It’s been an exciting and challenging journey so far, and I’m constantly learning and growing in this field.
How were your initial years in the law school?
My initial years in law school were quite eventful. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as I stepped into the world of legal education. The workload was intense, with lots of reading, researching, and preparing for classes and exams. But I also found it incredibly fascinating to dive deep into various legal subjects and engage in thought-provoking discussions with my classmates and professors. It was during those years that I developed a strong foundation in legal principles and honed my critical thinking and analytical skills. Overall, it was a challenging yet rewarding experience that laid the groundwork for my future in the field of law.
What motivated you to pursue law as a career?
What motivated me to pursue law as a career was a combination of personal experiences and influential legal figures. I witnessed instances where justice was needed but not always served, and it ignited a desire within me to make a positive impact and promote fairness in society.
Additionally, I was inspired by influential legal figures who fought for justice and equality. Their dedication and passion for the law resonated with me, and I knew that pursuing a career in law would allow me to contribute towards creating a more just world. It’s a field that constantly challenges me and gives me the opportunity to make a difference.
What were your top 3 sources of information while preparing for the law entrance exam? Did you prepare for the exam all by yourself?
My top three sources of information were books, online resources, and coaching institutes. I relied on various reference books that covered the different subjects tested in the exam. Additionally, I found online resources such as study materials, mock tests, and video tutorials to be really helpful.
And yes, I did prepare for the exam mostly by myself, but I also joined a coaching institute to get additional guidance and access to expert faculty. It’s important to find a study routine that works best for you and utilize resources that suit your learning style.
Any advice you’d like to pass on to law school aspirants and law students?
